SBY Go to Bali Democracy Forum IV

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) this morning officially opened the Bali Democracy Forum IV (BDF IV). In his speech, Yudhoyono emphasized the need to promote democracy, including freedom of some important things.

Together with Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, the President opened the carpet was BDF IV at the Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali today. In his speech, Yudhoyono said he expected a few things.

According to him, democracy must be able to give freedom. "Democracy must give greater space for citizens to gain freedom. Whether it's freedom, religion, assembly and expression, "said SBY in Nusa Dua, Bali, Thursday (08/12/2011).

But the president warned that freedom must not be absolute. "Freedom has its limits. Must not suppress the rights of other parties. Freedom can not promote hatred or conflict, "added the president.

President judge of freedom had to be in line with the tolerance and the rule of law. Without them, freedom would lead to resentment and anarchy.

In addition to freedom, democracy must also provide the peace. The President gives the example of Indonesia is undergoing transition to democracy that is often filled with communal conflict. But this is changing, and Indonesia is currently filled with pedamaian, regardless of the persistence of some minor conflicts in the region.

To that end, democracy must also support the enforcement of human rights. The more human rights upheld, then democracy in a country will last a long time.

Finally, SBY see democracy must also be moderate. It is considered important, because often the case that democracy is often open up great opportunities against extremism and radicalism in various walks of life.

"Often, the extremists often use a false democracy for its own sake without understanding what the core of democracy," he explained.

According to the president it can happen in Asia, Africa, or any other democratic country in Latin America. For the president to remind to all countries that democracy is not afraid of growing to hear the public voice.
